About the Presenter

Psychotherapist, clinical hypnotist, author, poet, ‘possibillian’ and ‘planetary contextualist’ – Richard Whitehurst has been involved in consciousness, meditation and human transformation for over four decades. A former president of the Ericksonian Hypnotherapist Association of Australia, Richard is a practicing clinical hypnotherapist with some 30 years’ experience in utilizing therapeutic trance states to bring about positive changes in thousands of his clients.

A powerful transpersonal experience that occurred in 1970 eventuated in an ongoing project of research, practice and teaching involving a variety of meditative and contemplative modalities –including 6 years of study, travel and practice on the Indian subcontinent and some 9 years as a Vedic monk. Richard’s current therapeutic orientation is grounded in direct perception of non-conceptual awareness. In this transformative setting the conventional, volitional ego-self drops away revealing an ineffable ‘non-state’ that exists, not as another object in consciousness but rather as the non-temporal non-spatial ground of consciousness ... the wide-open-pure-awareness-context. Richard is Founder and Director of The Overview Institute of Australia
